The Emasculation:

Emasculation is a process for removing the male part that is anther from the bisexual-flower. This is done for preventing self pollination in the  plants & to ensure only cross-pollination occurs.

  • The emasculation performed by a plant breeder in bisexual flowers for obtaining a desired variety of the plant by the crossing particular plant with wanted pollen grain. To remove anthers, those flowers are covered by  bag before opening.

That purpose of emasculation:

  • The removal of the stamens or the anthers or killing a pollen of some flower with-out a female-reproductive organ is called the emasculation. In the bisexual-flowers, emasculation is very essential to prevent the self pollination. In the mono-ecious plants, male flowers are removed.
