The excess use of  fertilizers lead to :
@ land degradation 
@ soil pollution 
@ water pollution 
@ make land unfertile

The excess use of fertilizers are detrimental for the environment because excess use of fertilizers will results in reducing the soil quality and it it can also kill the helpful micro organism living in the soil and may harm the soil that will change the soil nature and may effects its nutrients 
 
When these fertilizers get washed off and dump in the water bodies then it will also kill the organism living in the water
