Good night guys

“On Killing a Tree” is a satirical poem which describes the ceremonial task of mankind to kill a tree. The poet ironically shows that man is very insensitive to the trees. The tree has grown slowly consuming nutrients from the earth and absorbing air, water and sunlight for years.

QUESTION: Why is feeling trees almost ceremonial in "on killing a tree "

Answer : The poet says that the act of killing a tree is a ceremonial task. ... The roots of the tree are pulled out of the anchoring earth. Then it is exposed to the sunlight and air for scorching and choking. The act of killing a tree becomes complete when the tree becomes completely withered.
