Why is flash of lighting from cloud seen much before the thunder although both occur simultaneously?

This becuz light travels much faster than sound does and hence even though the occur simultaneously on a rainy day,the flash of light is seen much before cuz it travels down the clouds comparatively faster than sound.

Sound of thunder takes more time to reach the Earth as compared to light.

Hence, a flash is seen before we hear a thunder.
