Because there are different constitutes in the food which are only digested by specific glands. So any one organ or gland cannot digest food.So it is digested step by step

suzanneshahnawaz: Are you sure if this is correct

Unlike single celled animals, human beings have the large digestive system including various organs starting from the mouth to large intestine.

All the organs have given specific function to perform during the process of digestion.

This is the reasons why digestion is divided into various stages that the food undergoes as it reaches to the particular organ.

The digested food that is soluble into blood is used as the energy for the body.
