As we all are well aware from the functioning of lungs in human body. when we inhale the oxygen through nostrils they are transported to the whole body via lungs for proper functioning of cells.Similarly forests helps water to transport to the earth's ground for proper structure and environmental system in deep earth
Moreover, The equatorial rain forest or commonly know as Amazon rain forest functions as a giant air machine that absorbs a large amount of carbon dioxide, and produces oxygen. That is why it is often called the "Lungs of the Earth."
