It was the first revolution that denied monarchy completely, was based upon human rights. It preached equality and freedom for all people. Moreover, there was a realisation of novel concept of strict regulation of market.

Also it affected thinking and understanding of history, made all monarchies vulnerable. It reflected rational and modern concepts of ruling (these words are used in philosophical meaning, so it's not good/bad)

It was an example of secular concepts in a state.

Many of aforementioned phenomena were novel for that time.
