Why is geography so boring

Geography is not at all boring!!!
Geography is not at all boring!!!Geography has so many different branches ( I will simplify all of them, of course they deal with much more) e.g. Social geography (how the geographical distributions reflects on our society), Settlement geography (deals with population, migration, how our demographics are dependent on the location, etc), Historical geography (how the state came to be, what was its previous name, etc.), Culture geography (which deals with religion, language, etc. Sometimes Social geography is inserted in this branch).

And it’s incredibly fascinating! Did you know that the flags of Chad and Romania are the same? Or that the stars in the Brazil flag represent the stars on the first night of independence?

I know that I hated history in school and figured that geography was one of those ‘ugh’ subjects. But as I aged my interest in those subjects grew. Part of it is probably to watching interesting programs on TV that started to give me a perspective on who were are today because of our history — and how that very same history was influenced by geography.
This really hit home when I started a family genealogy project. When I found that my ancestors were of Celtic/Saxon/Norman background, I was bewildered. Uh, where is Celticland and Saxonland and Normanland and jeez, is that something I was supposed to have learned in school when I wasn’t paying attention? (Actually my ancestral Celts were from Brittany [think northern Great Britain and Wales], Saxons were from Saxony [think Germany] and the Normands were from Normandy [France]).
Suddenly I was interested in this stuff.
You will understand my ignorance of geography now. While in the Navy I received orders to report to the Navy base in Argentia, Newfoundland. Huh? Back then we didn’t have the internet so I poured over maps of South America (well Argentia sounded a little bit like Argentina) trying to figure out where I was going. Finally I had to go to the base library and ask. Uh, I learned that Argentia, Newfoundland is the easternmost province of Canada!
Will my meandering discussion I am just trying to point out two things: (1) geography will play a part in your life; and (2) when it does you suddenly will become very interested.
