why is ground water a highly over used resource?

Mostly we see that we exploit resources which are easily available and feasible , we want the resources getting which is very easy and less costly , ground water is a highly overused resource as accessing ground water is quite easy just establishing a pump and you get water ,thus it is the most overused resource .
