usually solids are made up of atoms having high forces of attraction. only because of high forces of attraction these are hard and Compact.. thus,considered as solid .
a large amount of energy is required to break the high force of attraction n heat provides the required amount of energy thus helps the solid to melt . with the increase in temp kinetic energy increases and the forces of attraction decreases .
