Hey,
The helium gas is inert because it's electronic configuration is stable. It's valence shell is complete and it does not lose or gain electrons.

Helium is called as inhert gas because it is highly stable and completes its duplet configuration

Similarly, Neon , Argon , Krepton etc are the examples of inhert gases
