Helium oxygen mixture preferred over air for respiration in deep sea drilling this is to reduce the narcotic effect.
When you are under water you are under pressure due to water above you, how much depends on how deep you dive or drill as well.
Helium does not produce narcosis as compared to nitrogen when mixture of nitrogen and oxygen is used instead of helium and oxygen.
