Why is hydrogen moreacidic than deuterium?

I read that deuterium is a worse acid because it makes short bonds with its conjugate base.
That doesnt really make any sense because Sp hybridized acids are great acids for precisely that reason. Shorter bonds allow greater heterolytic cleavage~
Generally shorter bonds signify stronger bongs because short bonds result from good orbital overlap. The better the orbital overlap, the stronger the bond, and the shorter the bond length. Since shorter bond lengths result from stronger bonds, it will be harder to break a D-X bond than a H-X bond.
