  • To achieve the room temperature , the ice at 273K will absorb latent heat (a heat required to convert a solid into liquid or vapour, or a liquid into a vapour without any change in the temperature) as well as thermal energy (energy possessed within a system due to movement of particles within the system).

  • Whereas water at 273K will only absorb the heat energy/thermal energy to achieve the room temperature.

  • Thus, water at 273K will absorb less environmental heat energy/thermal energy than the ice at 273K.

  • Therfore,Ice at 273K is more effective in cooling than water at the same room temperature.
