why is ice rubbed on a burnt part of the skin?

Ive is rubbed on a burnt skin because it gives us a cooling feel and bacteria and germs can't survive in cold temperature.

On being burnt the skin undergoes some reaction which are quite painful.Therefore ice is applied to the burnt part to  slow down the reaction and provides some relief to the person.It also prevents further damage to the burnt skin of a person.
