When a subcontinent possess all the characteristic flora and fauna of a continent, it is called a subcontinent. Indian subcontinent ,likewise ,possess all the flora and fauna which are found in Asian subcontinent. Geologically, the Indian subcontinent is related to the land mass that rifted from Gondwana and merged with the Eurasian plate nearly 55 million years ago. This is why ,India is called a subcontinent. Indian subcontinent includes India and its ad joining country for example Bangladesh, Nepal ,Myanmar ,Bhutan and Pakistan.
