IRRIGATION is nothing but watering the crops. Irrigation basically means artificially applying water for plants or crops, and it is essential for plants because water plays a very important role in soil and plant growth relationship. there are following functions of water and important for plant growth and crop production. water itself acts as a nutrient for plant also. And it is done after applying manure,sowing the seed.They are 4 types of irrigation methods they are;-
1. furrow irrigation - In this method water is allowed to flow between the rows of crops.
2. basin irrigation-In this method water is just filled all over the field only in just in case of paddy.
3. Modern method of irrigation- In this method water is given to plants by using sprinklers in between some plants.
4.drip irrigation-This method is generally used in drought prone areas as water is not available there. Here water reaches every plant drop by drop by connecting all the pipes to each and every plant in the crop.
