in terms of time IST is standard time of country India.Through out India the people follow IST.It can be define as 5 hours ahead of GMT . As GMT is 0 degree and IST is 82'30 India receives  first the rays of sun than Greenwich meridian receives. So, IST is ahead of GMT

IT IS BECAUSE OF THE PLACE OR THE LATITUDES AT WHICH THESE PLACES ARE PRESENT, THE IST( INDIAN STANDARD TIME) IS AT 82'30 AND THE GMT (GREENWICH MERIDIAN TIME) IS PRESENT AT THE 0 THE EARTH ROTATES FROM WEST TO EAST WHICH CAUSES THE SUNLIGHT TO REACH INDIA FASTER  AND BEFORE GMT AT LONDON . SO IST IS 5 HRS. AHEAD OF GMT!
