why is it dark inside a forest?

Forests have dense trees which cover them like a canopy due to which the sun’s rays are unable to enter the forests and that is why the forests appear dark on the inside.

With no sunlight reaching the forests, night comes in sooner than at other areas. And when it is dark, it is really dark inside a forest.
