It is because in the k letter centre of of gravity of our body shift towards the bucket and there is a tendency that the line joining the centre of gravity and centre of equilibrium falls outside our sheet however in the former case the tendency of gravity not only get lower but also it is at centre such a point that line joining the c.g&ce falls within our feet however one is a stable equilibrium.
