I would say that it is because particles are extremely, extremely tiny! If we say that a particle is an atom, it is roughly

To do that, we would have to use something called electron microscopes. Those are microscopes, but they are very powerful, and are able to see electrons and other particles. The downside is that they are hard to operate, and are very expensive to buy.
In conclusion, I would say that those are the two main reasons of why it is hard to test the particle model.
