Thin leaves allow energy from sun to reach to every cell of the leaf. Sunlight is absorbed by the upper part of the leaf. As we know, sunlight cannot penetrate too deep inside the leaf because the amount of light decreases with distance. So the leaf are thin to allow the sunlight to reach the bottom part of the leaf !
