Why is it necessary to increase our production efficiency for both crops and live stock

There is a need to introduce production efficiency of crops and livestock which is ' improvement in food resources ' because there is a rapid increase in human population.

To meet the requirement of growing population in India more farming land is required. But since the country is intensively cultivated we do not have any scope for increasing the area of cultivated land. It could be done only by increasing efficiency of production.
