its necessary to know the blood group before blood transfusion as every type of blood group contains a specific antigen like A+ contains A antigen and B+ blood blood type B antigen .Blood group B contains anti A And blood group a contains anti b proteins if different blood groups are transfused agglutination will start which will kill the victim
