It is not possible to demonstrate respiration in green plants kept in sunlight because during day time plants are undergoing photosynthesis. During this time oxygen is given out by plants as waste product and they take carbon dioxide to make food their own food. As we know oxygen is consumed during respiration in plants so it cannot be demonstrated at the daytime, as plants carry out respiration at night.

Hope this helps you

Hey there !

Your question is =>
Why is it not possible to demonstrate respiration in green plant kept in sunlight ?

Hers is the answer =>

The rate of respiration is determines by the amount of Carbon dioxide that is produced during the process of respiration.
During sunlight , the carbon dioxide evolved , will be used for the process of photosynthesis.
Hence , we cant demonstrate respiration in green plants that are kept in sunlight.

To demonstrate respiration in green plants , it is preferable to keep them in a dark room , where there is no source of light like sun.

Photosythesis is a process that requires light . Hence it cannot occur during night time. Also , respiration in plants occurs during night , at the time which plants consume oxygen .
In order to maintain themetabolism of plants and continue their respiration at night, plants absorb oxygen from the air and give off carbon dioxide during the night time.
