India follows a Holding-together federation under this :

  • In a large country powers are divided between the constituent states  and the national government.
  • The Central government is more powerful than the state.
  • Different constituents units of the federation have unequal powers.
  • Examples India, Spain, Belgium etc.

Hence, it is said that in Indian constitution more powers are vested in the Union than in the states.
