1-Land holds the treasure of other important resources like oil, minerals, drinking water, trees giving oxygen & wood, eatables , and is the final recycling factory to produce reusable resources from the environment .
2-Land is getting scarce for human dwelling and humans have not yet found any sustainable dwelling like earth elsewhere. Pressure on land is building day by day due to burgeoning population.
3-From economic point of view land with it's resources like oil, minerals, water, vegetation & animals etc is inequitably shared among nations and societies due to geopolitical constraints.Land ownership is still much disputed since the historical settlements between the nations has never been fair to all. Colonialism was fueled by expansionist policies of the kings which was further strengthened by imperialistic policies to assert the right on all resources associated with a particular land including its human resources. This ultimately caused war, deaths and destruction. No wonder why Antarctica is now the only international land area in true spirits.
4- Two major economic activities viz transportation and communication has been structured world over using land as its base.
5-Out of land , labour , capital and technology, only land can not be created by humans. We can either build skyscrapers or live deep underground. The round earth would not allow us to expand horizontally.
But still the most important resource economically or otherwise is INFORMATION. One who wins the information war, wins all.

the word land is used not only as soil or the surface of earth as it is ordinarily understood.
it stands for all nature and life . it also includes most of the natural resources which we use these days such as stones which are used to make bricks and with which we make buildings and construct roads.
