Land is ploughed before sowing, to allow the passage of air through the soil particles, and allow percolation of water to the bottommost layers of the soil.
After ploughing, the land is levelled so that birds, winds and other agents can't displace the seeds. Also, it tightens the soil so that the plant roots are anchored well and prevent soil erosion.

the land is ploughed and levelled before sowing because-
1. it will allow the roots to penetrate deeper in soil for nutrients and water. roots can easily penetrate as soil will become soft.
2. it allows roots to breathe easily
3. it aids the growth of microbes and worms present in the soil which are very important for growth of plants.
