why is life so boring and meaningless

Answer:
Congratulations, you have entered into a phase in which what you thought was important is no longer important (or doesn’t hold the value once it held). Emptiness is usually the result of losing a pivot, a reference point in your life, just like reference points in mathematics.
X has co-ordinates (2,1). It is defined by those coordinates. Emptiness is like losing these axes.
X thought that there was a reference, but in reality there is none. X now drowns in an ocean of emptiness.
I believe this is a normal phase in life for many people. Heck, so much literature and philosophy is based on this notion. The Buddhist philosophy of , ,Hume’s treatise on Human Nature, Being and Nothingness by Sartre and works of Soren Kierkegaard to name a few. All this points to something more that the psyche now wants.
Anyways, coming back to your question. How to get rid of emptiness?
Truth be told, life is in fact empty and meaningless, its just what we make out of it gives it meaning. So here are few pointers:
Develop a sense of curiosity : This should be read more like, develop a sense of awe. There is so much to wonder about in life, and I’m not just talking about what man has done, but also what is already there in nature. Which brings me to point no 2.
Appreciate nature: One of the ills of the modern world is our separation from the natural world. If you look at it, if you go out for nature walks and sightings (do that alone if possible), you will realize the harmony of the natural world, as opposed to the modern human world. Harmony has decreased in humans because of our own vices.
Contemplate and Meditate: The art of meditating is not simply breathing in a particular way or concentrating on a particular thing. The purpose is to quieten the mind and to free it from various concepts, norms and patterns that you have learnt over time. As you learn to see without notions, you begin to see what things are and also start getting a perspective on who/what you are. Once you begin to see things as they are, your notions of things as good or bad, positive or negative goes away. You will also begin to see the forces acting on your psyche, that make you who you are.
Few random quotes:
To say (or read/write) something about a thing is not the thing in itself
To know something is a much broader concept than just knowing about something from a book
Morals and ethics are necessary to live a good life
Have a purpose: A purpose with which you identify is necessary to live a good life. The purpose may be to become a doctor, social worker , IAS officer or a teacher. Start doing things that you would want to give back to society.
All in all I believe that your emptiness may be pointing to a higher calling. Think about it, write about it and talk about it. Don’t try to suppress or avoid it, it may be the darkest hour before the dawn.
