Why is Maharashtra known as the land that nurtured the Indian film industry? Answer in 25-30 words.

There’s not any exact reason behind it. It just happened. Major reasons for this could be -

Bombay was the place from where the world connected to India. So when movies, cameras, reels, etc. came to India they landed on the soil of Bombay, for the elite class (British).

Because Bombay was a flourishing trade center so more people would come to Bombay for jobs. More the population, more the audience, consequently, perfect place for the film industry to bloom.

Population of Parsis was dense in Bombay, and they were the people who easily adopted new technology.

This was the time when Hindi was growing as a national language (from being a regional language of West UP region), the language for the Independence movement, and because Bombay was a major centre for Anti-British activities, Hindi spread up there.

The ‘B’ in Bollywood stands for Bombay. So if Bollywood is not in Bombay, where else would it be?!

Mumbai, the hub of Bollywood is situated in the Maharashtra region. Most of India's big film stars live in Mumbai.
