India is known for sycophancy and nepotism (meaning chamchagiri).
Gandhiji had lot of opposition in Congress in his hey days. He had already recommended for dissolution of Congress party a day before his assassination. ( I don’t know why the Congress party was not probed as a suspect who could have bribed Nathuram Godse to Finish off the Mahatma).
Once Nehru and his team came to power, the immediate task they took is to position Nehru the politician as an international statesman, create special space for him globally where he is considered as one of the world’s intellectual politician (there is no denying, of course he was an intellectual), this process led to literal slide down of all other national heroes of our freedom struggle.
