Marchantia is without roots or vascular system and they are related to mosses, so placed in Bryophyta. They have thallus similar to Bryophyta.

Marchantia does not have vascular tissues [xylem, phloem] and is modified into root-like and stem-like structures. This is why it is placed in Bryophyta.
