why is mectanisation is not so important intensive subsistence agriculture​

Mechanisation is not necessary as the area of cultivation is small. Also, the farms are self-sufficient due the farming methods they use. Eg: Crop rotation, cattle manure , composit pits, small and efficient irrigation systems etc.
