Why is methane a more powerful greenhouse gas than co2?

Hey!!

Actually, Methane's life span is actually much shorter than the life span of carbon dioxide. 

Methane's ability to trap heat is much higher.  When measured over a 100 year frame of reference, which is how the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of all greenhouse gases is measured,

methane on a weight basis has 21 times the GWP of carbon dioxide.
