Mica has unique properties which makes it ideal for use in several appliances:

It is extremely good conductor of heat, and at the same time an excellent electrical insulation material. Mica is the only solid material having this property.

It is stable in both these properties over a large temperature range.

It is also a good dielectric, and is used extensively in mica capacitors

It can be separated in flakes of required thickness, which is mostly doen manually, depending on applications.

Can be cut on machines in different shapes.

Can even be used in powdered form to make flexible mica paper / tapes.

Mica is used in electrical appliances such as iron because mica is good conductor of heat but bad conductor of electricity
