It is also called as the “Manchester,” of India. Mumbai is the “Cotton,” manufacturing center of India, black soil of the deccan plateau produces the raw cotton. The abundant supply of labours is available from all over the country

Mumbai is the most important cotton manufacturing centre of india.Mumbai’s hinterland,the black regur soil of the deccan plateau produces the raw cotton required. Mumbai uses Morden machinery,it also has humid climate which favours the production of yarns , cheap power is available from Tata Hydroelectric systems at Bhivpuri and Khopoli, abundant supply of labours is available from all over the country.
