Nitrogen is a gas.It contains two molecules of oxygen and one molecule of nitrogen.Atomic no. of nitrogen is 7,atomic mass is 14 while the valency is 3.It is written as NO₂ and there are many compounds of it in which oxygen and nitrogen are combined. It is written like NO₂ and as N₂O bcoz it has two molecules of oxygen but only one molecule of nitrogen.
1)NO(nitroxide)
2)N₂O(nitrous oxide),etc
