The photosynthesis chemical equation states that the reactants (carbon dioxide, water and sunlight), yield two products, glucose and oxygen gas. The single chemical equation represents the overall process of photosynthesis. ... Chlorophyll is a pigment that absorbs sunlight energy.

sunlight energy is absorbed in the reaction, hence it is endothermic. Yes photosynthesis is endothermic. It takes more energy to break the chemical bonds in the carbon dioxide and water, than is generated from the formation of the bonds in glucose and oxygen.
