As the green parts contain chlorophyll which absorbs sunlight and carbon dioxide in order to perform photosynthesis, the green parts of the plant produce food

Plant food is only produced in the green part of the plants as chlorophyll is present in those green parts.

Explanation:

  • Chlorophyll, the green element present in plant leaves and young shoots are capable of using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into creating glucose and water and oxygen.
  • This is what the plants consume as plant food.
  • The broad hard part of the plants does not possess any chlorophyll and therefore plant food cannot be created in those parts.
