Plasma membrane is also known as semi permeable as it allows certain molecules to pass through it while stopping others. It protects intracellular organelles from the outside environment. It selectively allows the molecules to move in and out of the cell.

The primary function of the plasma

membrane is to protect the cell from its surroundings. Composed of a phospholipid bilayer with embedded proteins, the plasma membrane is selectively permeable to ions and organic molecules and regulates the movement of substances in and out of cells.

Plasma membrane made of phospholipids is known as selectively permeable membrane as it regulates entry and exit of elements in cell. That means it allows some substance to pass but prevent some to enter.
