Plasma is the straw-colored liquid portion of blood that contains water, proteins, salts, nutrients, hormones, and metabolic wastes. It does not have any pigment cells to give it a color. The RBCs of blood contain hemoglobin which is responsible for giving red color to blood.

Blood plasma is straw colored because of the presence of pigment called bilirubin that is yellowish in color. Bilirubin is formed when hemoglobin is broken. It is insoluble in water that's why it remains in the plasma. Plasma takes bilirubin to the liver that breaks it down and removes it from body. If bilirubin is not removed then jaundice may result. Plasma is made up of 95% of water and red blood cells are also present in it that gives red color to the blood.
