Plaster of Paris is stored in a moisture proof container due to its property of setting down as a hard mass. When kept in moisture, it reacts with water to form Gypsum.
CaSO4.1/2H2O + 3/2H2O----> CaSO4.2H2O (Gypsum)
Thus, If kept in moisture it will become useless.
Therefore, it is advised to keep Plaster of Paris (CaSO4.1/2H2O) in moisture proof container.
