A dwarf planet orbits the sun just like other planets, but it is smaller. A dwarf planet is so small it cannot clear other objects out of its path.So pluto is considered smas dwarf planet

Pluto is considered a dwarf planet because it couldn't clear its neighboring orbits and also did not meet the three criteria needed by the International Astronomical Union to define a full size planet. the criteria are as  follows; 1) it is small 2) Pluto was unable to clear its neighboring orbits
