Why is population very less in western part of the rajasthan plain?

the western areas get little of rainfall because aravallis are parallel to the Arabian sea branch and doesn't shed their monsoon...which can provide growth of very insignificant plants . there is a large variations in day and night temp...i . e.annual range of temp is too high, day are too hot and nights are too cold. they are not affected by land and sea breezes .therefore,no moderate climate, the climate is insignificant to sustain a good amount of population.
