Why is poverty referred to as an obstacle for the developing world?

For survival we have to work. But due to many circumstances like food crisis,lack of education,lack of job,etc people are becoming poor.They try their level best to earn for survival.Maximum don't have the opportunity to get employed thus, the unemployment rate is increasing day by day. A big portion of manpower of a country are unemployed and semi employed . As a result the per capita income of the country gets low. So thus, poverty obstacles in the development of the country.
