Pure gold is 24k and is extremely soft and malleable, thereby making it rare in jewellery. Gold of 20k, 18k and 14k are usually used to make jewellery. The karat value of gold is reduced by mixing it with other metals, usuallycopper or silver.

hey mate ,

    here is your answer :)

*************

  • Generally 22 carot gold is used in making ornaments.
  • Pure gold or 24 carat gold is not used for making jewelleries or ornaments.
  • this is because pure gold is very soft and can't be used for making ornaments.
  • so,some amount of other metal (cooperation or silver) is added to make gold a bit harder.
