Why is pyridine less reactive than benzeñe toward electrophilic substitution?

Because nitrogen present in pyridine is more electronegative than the carbon present in benzene and because of the fact that nitrogen is more electronegative than carbon , pyridine acts as electron withdrawing group than compared to that of benzene.
