Why is rajasthan arid inspite of Aravalli hills

because liying in arid climatic zone

this is because the Arabian sea branch of south west monsoon blows parallel to the Aravalli and they do not intercept with it. Moreover, the hills are very low and the moisture laden winds do not saturate making Rajasthan a dry region.
