why is respiration considered an exothermic process
Answers
Exothermic reactions release heat or energy. When you breathe out, you must have noticed that your breath is warmer. It means heat has been released from your body. Hence, respiration is an exothermic reaction. Also, in respiration, you take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. It is similar to candle burning. It takes oxygen or air to burn and gives light and heat.
We get energy from food that we eat. This food is broken down into simple substances thro' digestion process. Carbohydrates present in food are broken down to form glucose. This glucose combines with Oxygen in the cells of our body and provides energy. This reaction is known as respiration. C6 H12O6 + 6 02 (g) ? 6 CO2 (g) + 6H2O (l) + energy Glucose Hence, respiration is considered as an exothermic reaction.

==========================
respiration is considered as an exothermic reaction because in respiration oxidation of glucose takes place which produces heat energy this is shown in following chemical equation
*
c6H12o6+6o2--------> 6o2+6h2o+energy
