Respiration is considered as an exothermic reqction because when food is taken in, during the digestion, food is broken down into simpler substamces. For eg. rice, potato etc. contains carbohydrate.These carbohydrates are broken down to glucose.This glucose combines with oxygen in the cells of aur body and provides.That is why it exothermic reaction.
